The rain finally stopped! Sadly, the mud didn't dry up overnight. It is exhausting slogging through the mud bogs. Not to mention, the footing stinks. In fact, numbers 15 and 16 happened this morning. Neither fall was of consequence. Just simple mud slides that ended with me on the ground.
Everyone says to "be careful". It's not like I'm trying to fall, or to be reckless. Every step matters. If I've only had sixteen bad steps out of 3.5 million, then I'm doing pretty well. I am being safe and will continue to focus on my footing. I am too old to be falling down. But stuff happens.
Today is a resupply day. Yay! Town!
Just as I reached the parking lot, a hiker offered me a ride to the grocery store. He even waited for me to shop and then drove me to my hotel. I'm staying the night in a ski lodge.
Cold beer and hot food!
And a comfy bed!
We keep saying be careful because what else do you say when someone falls? How about “Fall On”! I would be there to spot you if I could. Likely, we would just fall together lol. Glad you were able to re supply! And re charge in a comfy bed 🙂
Yo Brewhiker, keep on truckin’ bro!! Thanks for sharing the adventure on your YT channel!!! that’s so incredible what you’ve done with that..equally as well as you’ve navigated the AT to this point no doubt. For this lowlander, its such a great thing to see your face and hear your voice again . The slop and crap will end my friend in good time no doubt, god bless in the remaining weeks of the AT.. I can’t imagine how incredibly difficult it’s got to be knowing how close you are to the ultimate goal after such a monumental undertaking…hope the latest resupply and relaxation allows for the sky to clear and that meesy muddy Vermont portion to be in the rear view in good order!!
