What a night…I’m glad I had a spot in the shelter. As predicted, the thunderstorms rolled through. It rained most of the night. From the look of the tents this morning, it was a rough night. So glad to awake dry and rested.

After yesterday’s terrain, the Trail gave me a break today. The conditions were sloppy, but not extreme. I made it to my planned stop, 10 miles, by 2:30. I was sweaty and it was cold. Figured it wasn’t in my best interest to sit around for hours while freezing.

So I pushed on. Down a monstrous and long downhill. One where you have to watch every step. The whole day was one misstep from trouble. But at the bottom of the hill…a barstool with my name on it.

Nice big burger and tater tots. A few cold drafts. A hot shower. And a bunk for the night. Well worth the 16.6 mile day.

Tomorrow…monster uphill!

The weather should be great. I’ve been told by several people to camp at the top.

Maybe? We shall see.
