Up before 6:30. Ready to go by 7:15. Trying to push miles today. Tried the GreenBelly bars I was given by Julie. Dense, but 640 calories. Coupled with a breakfast shake and almond butter, I had a 1,000 calorie breakfast. Ready to go.
The terrain and weather were in my favor. I powered over the hills and glided the downhills. Really? It wasn’t as graceful as it seems. It’s always work, but my footwork and balance are greatly improved. Plug in, crank the tunes, and push. That’s the name of the game…always make each step count.
Goal achieved! I covered 18.4 miles and reached the hostel. Goodbye Smokey Mountains. A tale of two worlds. The first three days were a challenge. Gatlinburg was awesome. The last three days were enjoyable and beautiful.
My first Interstate crossing. I walked under I-40 to get to the hostel. Just before the sun went down. Peter Pan (Josh) arrived. He got picked up, but only has to make up 1.5 miles in the morning. I challenged him to push for bigger miles. I’m so glad he’s pushing a bit harder. We must move forward at a greater pace, or we will run out of time.
The hostel served 16 ounce Fat Tire Amber. I’ve had my fill and it’s off to the tent.
The book shows a wicked climb out of here first thing in the morning.
Wicked awesome! So proud of you
