I was lucky enough to get the last king bed room at the Spring Brook Cottages. It was a small cabin, with a deck overlooking the creek. What a pleasant stay. So glad to shower and get a great nights sleep.

The true glory of a long distance hiker…spending the morning at the Wash Tub. Either dressed in rain gear or swimming shorts, one must get the nasty clothing clean. It’s funny to see what other hikers are wearing while the machines grind away.

The early afternoon was spent eating lunch and consuming malt beverages at the Spring Creek Tavern. The crowd was a mix of hikers, sightseers, and locals. It’s always great to hear the trail tales of my companions. Each of us making sure the others are happy and healthy.

The main event…Mrs. Growler arrived!  So happy to see her. After quick introductions and a glass of vino, off to Asheville. To the splendor and beauty of the Biltmore Estate.

We spent the evening catching up, walking the nearby grounds, and dining on the grand balcony. It is such a treat. It’s like our own secluded piece of nature. Except all the luxury. What a contrast to the trail life.

My family is such a blessing!  Love you all!
