As expected, it rained most of the night. The wet, damp, and cold made me stay under the sleeping quilt a bit longer than I wanted. I am slow to move when it’s cold. Despite my best intentions, I left at my normal 9:15.
The mornings hike was in a constant fog. Traversing through layers of mist. It was quite peaceful. But not real good for any attempt to stay dry.
Late in the afternoon the AT became the “exposed ridge” trail. It was likely beautiful, on a nice sunny day. I only saw rocks, roots, and clouds. It was the most technical hiking as of yet. Constant attention to footwork and good balance were the key to navigating the wet and rugged terrain.
I made the shelter in good time. The camp chores quickly taken care of and into the tent. I was soaked and cold. Dry clothes and warm quilt to the rescue. Just as I got cozy, the rain started again.
Hopefully. Maybe. The weather has got to improve.
I can’t control it. So stop worrying about it.
What will be, will be.
Oh yeah…300 miles!
300!! Sweet The weather will change, and then it will be too hot!
