Always a great day when you hit a trail town. Today it was the 3C’s…chips, cerveza, and carnitas. Boy do I miss good Mexican food.
But enough with the food.
I called from the top of the mountain and secured the last room at Cantarroso Farm. The owners, Mike and Peggy are awesome. I have my own upstairs loft. I guess when business is good, Mike agrees to rent his space and sleeps in the camper. Thank you so much Mike. It is like a little piece of home.
The weather has decided to make up its mind. Sunday looks like an all day deluge. The forecast is for 2-3 inches of rain. That is definitely not my idea of fun.
So tomorrow, Saturday, Mike is driving myself and another hiker forward about 10 miles. We will then walk back to Erwin. Then I’ll zero day here on Sunday. I don’t want to be three to four days from town, completely soaked and with no way to get dry.
It was a good hike today. Favorable terrain and an ever strengthening body allowed me to cover 13.3 miles in just over 6 hours. I’m really learning to have a fluid hiking motion. I’m focusing on no unnecessary movements and increased stride length. My lungs are doing a good job of keeping up with my legs.
Now it’s time to crack open a Foster’s oil can, catch up on the news, and likely be asleep by 9:30.
Such a party animal!
PS…here’s today’s terrain map:
Food looks good. Bed at 9:30 sounds good to me and I’m not walking anywhere! Good plan to avoid getting soaked.
