The first half of the day was spent climbing and descending. The elevation changes are not nearly as severe as a month ago. Plus I’m a great deal stronger now. Going up a thousand feet is almost nothing. I’m breathing hard, but I never stop anymore. Heck…I hardly even slow down.
The second half was supposed to be easy. Both my mapping apps showed the terrain as mostly flat. It was to be an afternoon running ridge lines. But the AT had other ideas. The Trail became extremely rocky. One misstep and you could really hurt an ankle. The smaller rocks were jagged and make your feet hurt. It was slow going.
It was the usual into camp around 7:00. Dinner and chores were done quickly. I was into the tent by 8:00. It always feels so good to lay down.
It feels like it’s going to be a cold night. I think it could even rain.
All I know is that I’ll sleep well. I’m tired.
