The terrain map for today looked fairly flat. I was hoping for a smooth hike. Wrong…rocks! It was slow going and pounding on your feet. Plus a big climb. It made for a long day.
A fellow hiker, Pilgrim, told us about “Magic” at a paved road crossing. His family was bringing BBQ to celebrate Mothers Day. Needless to say, we pushed past the shelter and headed for the road.
And the food was there. Ribs, pulled pork, chicken, sides, and sweets. They also had water, soda, and beer! As the old guy, I got lots of questions. They thought only the younger folks hiked.
We ate our fill, gave our thanks, and set out to find flat ground. About a mile later, tents up and lights out.
So many thanks to Pilgrim’s family!
Great story about Pilgrim and family. Good food for the hikers! Great stuff!
Trail magic hits again! Love that you have these stops available along the way, gotta love the trail angels! Glad they can be there when I can’t
