Another tough day. I climbed over 5,000′ today! Knowing the Trail, I probably descended about the same amount. Thankfully the terrain wasn’t as rocky. In places, there was knee high wild grass.
The weather was still hot, but water was more plentiful. At every water source, I chugged until I couldn’t drink anymore. Not feeling dehydrated made the day much easier.
Just as I was about to reach camp, the thunder and lightning started. It sounded like it was coming. I pushed as hard as I could. Within five minutes of reaching the shelter, the rain started. And it poured! I was glad to have a spot under cover.
The temperature dropped! Maybe that is the end of this heat cycle.
Glad you had more access to water!! Hydration is key.
