Our stay at the Cabbin included breakfast. Fried eggs, toast, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice. That’s much better than the normal hiker breakfast. A great start for our push into Harpers Ferry.

Today the trail passed through Sky Meadows State Park.  The tall grassy meadows were a nice change from the dense forest. Not the mountains, but equally beautiful. Just in a different way.

We also hit a section of the trail known as the Roller Coaster. It is 13.5 miles of steep climbs and descents. And they aren’t kidding!  Steep is an accurate description. But at the current fitness level, I power right up and down.

The Trail Angels were also out today!  The Magic included cold cuts, cheese, chips, brownies, watermelon, and soda. Sitting in a chair was also greatly appreciated!  I even packed out some chips and soda to have with dinner.

I’m staying in the shelter tonight. It appears to be brand new. Fresh lumber and no graffiti. Hopefully the bugs will cooperate.
