Days 13-17 / Mile 259.5

Washington State…mostly done!

For clarity, that’s an old family joke meaning you are just past halfway. Still, it’s hundreds of miles, thousands of steps, and weeks of stress applied to my body. So, how am I holding up?

I feel great! Besides your average aches, I have no chronic or reoccurring pains. Everyone knows their body and their weak spots. For me, it’s my feet and right hip. Thankfully, no issues to report. To this point, I’ve taken Vitamin I twice…ibuprofen.

Beyond the effects of extended exertion, one must also deal with the results of scrapes, bites, stumbles, and falls. Again, thankfully, not much to report here either. For the curious minds, my fall count is three. All minor slips and occurred on the same day. Two in the snow and one in the mud.

It would be naive to think that my hike will be pain free. At some level, it’s coming.

I’m ready!

I’m old school…rub dirt in it and take a lap!
